2022 Graduation Reflections
On Saturday, June 18th, under beautiful blue skies and a crisp white tent, our graduates and their families gathered together with Jeanette Voss, their class teacher, school leadership, and other faculty and staff, for a graduation ceremony on the school field. It was a wonderful, joyful crowd.
The alumni speaker, Chris Voss, ‘03, encouraged the graduates and spoke of the qualities and tools that they’ve attained in their years at WSL and how these unique gifts will stand them in good stead to face the future. Chris spoke about the ties that students have made through these years and how those connections to the community, the school and each other will always be there as a grounding support.
Kai Dickson, Aviv Rolnick and Iris Wolfe were the student hosts for the afternoon. Duane Sword spoke to the class from the parent perspective and talked about his love for the school as well as the commitments parents make to be a part of this community, joining committees, serving as class parents, (and driving many times the circumference of the earth in his case), to bring his daughter to school. His daughter, Zara Sword was the class speaker and mentioned a strength or quality that each of her classmates brought to the class, in a warm and moving speech. Several graduates contributed wonderful vocal performances.
Liaat Zehavi, Eurythmy Teacher, spoke on behalf of all of the Subject Teachers, quoting many of the teachers who worked with this class throughout the years, speaking memories, reflections and good wishes.
Jeanette Voss, the Class of 2022’s class teacher for these past eight years, shared her pride for, and love of her students—and her confidence in their readiness to step into the next part of their journey.
Magnolia Rios, Chair of the College of Teachers, and Alison Ryan, President of the Board of Trustees, presented the diplomas.
Thanks enormously for the support of Jeanette Voss, Kim Ayan, Lauren Smith, Magnolia Rios, Alison Ryan, Paul Menz, Betsy Peck, faculty and student musicians, the eighth grade parents and guardians, and many others for all the help behind the scenes.
We are so very proud of this graduating class. We wish you all the very best and welcome you into our alumni community. Full Program | Photos from the Ceremony Setup | Ceremony Photos | Reception Photos
