The Steiner Fund

A commitment to meeting each child through the integration of movement, perception, and thinking—so learning can take root.

The Steiner Fund has been established to strengthen the work of the Waldorf School of Lexington’s Student Support Department – ensuring that each child is deeply understood and able to engage fully in their learning journey.

At the Waldorf School of Lexington, we recognize that each child brings their own unique strengths, capacities, and ways of experiencing and relating to the world. The Student Support Department works alongside teachers to meet students as they are, supporting their growth through thoughtful observation, skilled intervention, and close collaboration with classroom teachers.

Through the Steiner Fund, we seek to expand and sustain this essential work, so that all our students can fully participate in the richness of a Waldorf education – developing confidence, curiosity, and a lasting connection to learning.

Honoring Catherine Steiner

The Steiner Fund is named in honor of Catherine Steiner, whose life’s work is deeply interwoven with the fabric of our school and who remains a guiding presence in its life today.

For decades, Catherine has brought extraordinary insight, dedication, and clarity to her work with children and families. At the center of her work is a deep belief: that each child deserves to be seen, understood, and guided in a way that allows them to grow into their full potential.

Her contributions have shaped not only individual students, but the broader culture of attentiveness, responsiveness, and inclusion that defines our school, and she remains a valued and guiding presence in the life of the school.

The Steiner Fund carries this work forward – ensuring that Catherine’s enduring commitment to children continues to be reflected in the life of the school.

Be Part of This Work

The Steiner Fund is an investment in the life of the school – now and into the future.

As we launch the Steiner Fund, we are working to raise $150,000 this year to establish a strong foundation for this ongoing work.

We invite you to honor Catherine Steiner through a gift to the Steiner Fund. Your support helps ensure that this work continues to grow and remain an integral part of a Waldorf education at WSL.

I was lucky enough to benefit from Mme. Steiner’s wisdom throughout my eight years at The Waldorf School. She helped me find confidence in myself as a young woman and in my creative abilities as an artist. The lessons I learned through her mentorship will always be with me, and I am forever grateful.
