Afterschool Athletics
WSL offers an afterschool athletics program for students in grades 6–8. Activities range from soccer and cross-country running in the fall, basketball in the winter, and ultimate frisbee and track and field in the spring. All practices and games are held afterschool on weekdays.
Program Philosophy & Vision
At Waldorf School of Lexington, we follow an everyone plays approach within our athletics program. It is our goal to create the opportunity and environment for each student's innate athletic ability within them to emerge and thrive. Every middle school student who wishes to play sports will have the opportunity to be on a WSL team.
We believe in healthy competition—when we play games, we will play to win, not simply participate. Students will learn the valuable lessons of teamwork, fair play, courage, kindness, and of course, failure. Most importantly, the student athletes will be able to spend additional time connecting with friends and having fun! Teams will be co-ed and open to every student. Games will be dependent on the number of sign ups.
To participate in afterschool sports, all student-athletes must be present during the school day of the practice or game. Maintaining good sportsmanship, and completing academic assignments is also required to participate in sports at WSL. Go Comets!
