Tuition Assistance Program

The Waldorf School of Lexington values an economically diverse school community and offers confidential tuition assistance based on demonstrated financial need.

Tuition assistance is available to all students in preschool through 8th grade who do not receive the sibling discount. Tuition assistance awards are limited in total on an annual basis by the amount of funds available for tuition assistance. Awards may be made for up to 50% of tuition. Most tuition assistance awards range between ten percent (10%) and thirty percent (30%).

How Awards Are Made
Beginning with the 2016–2017 tuition assistance application process, WSL will be using the FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment program (available October 25). This will allow for a single sign-on for both the tuition assistance and tuition management portals. Current families using FACTS will not need to create a new username or password to access the tuition assistance system.

In order for a family to have its case reviewed by the Tuition Assistance Committee, the parents must:

  • Submit the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment form (FACTS support line 866-441-4637 or info@factstuitionaid.com), by the required date, usually mid-February. Application and all related materials must be submitted directly to FACTS via the online application. Visit FACTS online.
  • Submit to FACTS by the designated deadline copies of your most recently filed Federal Income Tax forms.

If you are applying for financial aid, you must do so when you submit your application for admission. After the admissions process has been completed and all paperwork has been received, the committee reviews the information and makes a determination of aid for the following academic year. It is in your child's best interest to file early and certainly no later than the FACTS deadline. In order to clarify information, both for the school and for families, interviews with families and members of the Tuition Assistance Committee are sometimes necessary.  Financial aid decisions are made by the end of March.

Please note before applying
Although the resources of the school are limited, the Tuition Assistance Committee's goal is to make the enrollment of qualified students possible for families whose financial situation would otherwise prohibit it. Aid is awarded to families in greatest need. Paying tuition must be a priority for the family. Both parents are expected to contribute to tuition through employment and other sources of income.

Current students
Applications for the renewal of tuition assistance must be made each year. Students who receive tuition assistance must be in good academic and social standing. Student records and uition assistance forms are reviewed annually.

Notification of Awards
Completed applications will be reviewed by the Tuition Assistance Committee, and families will be notified as decisions are made. Awards will be made contingent upon receipt of a copy of the completed most recent Federal Income Tax Form 1040 (with all accompanying schedules). The school reserves the right to adjust any tuition assistance awards when there is a deviation between the actual income reported on the prior year tax returns and that projected in the application. The school further reserves the right to revoke any tuition assistance awards when a misleading representation of family need is presented through incorrect information or through omissions.

Parents should not file an appeal unless they believe that their circumstances have changed significantly from hose presented in their original application, or if they wish to submit additional information that might impact the committee's decision.
