Spreading the Warmth Near and Far!

One hundred years of Waldorf education has spread a lot of love and warmth throughout the world. In celebration of 100 years, we thought we’d spread some warmth locally. With that in mind, our 7th and 8th grade classes partnered with Cradles to Crayons to collect and distribute 100 new coats as a gift to children in-need in our community. This wonderful organization works throughout Greater Boston (Chicago and Philadelphia) to provide kids living with homelessness or in low-income situations, with the essentials they need, free of charge.

We are so pleased that our “100 Coats" drive significantly surpassed its goal, reaching a grand total of 133 new coats gathered! Thanks so much to all of our middle school students for their participation—and special kudos to 6th and 7th graders who managed the logistics of collecting the coats. The Moody family went above and beyond by counting and delivering the coats to Cradles to Crayons each week. And prior to the coats being delivered, our thoughtful and caring middle school students nestled hand-drawn messages into a pocket of each coat.

Adele Clements, our English Skills Teacher, and a key supporter of this endeavor, worked out the details for donating our surplus of 33 coats to the Lakota Waldorf School, in the heart of the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, as their community is in desperate need of coats at this time. We are so pleased to be able to reach out to a sister Waldorf School with this effort. And we wish to keep them in mind for future projects. Many thanks to the families, faculty, and staff who spread the warmth near and far by contributed to this incredibly successful drive!
