Covid-19 Information & Updates

Waldorf School of Lexington has established and routinely updates Covid-19 protocols, which are overseen by a Safety Committee of the School. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our primary focus, and thus our policies and protocols are designed to meet or exceed the safety recommendations outlined in the evolving guidance. Here is a high-level overview of our current Covid safety protocols:

  • Air-quality Measures: All classrooms in our main school building have been equipped with state-of-the-art continuous HEPA air filtration systems. For more information about the enVerid HEPA air filtration systems, please visit their website. For those classes in rooms that have ceilings that cannot support overhead installed HEPA filters, stand-alone HEPA filters with similar capacity are in place. All of the HEPA filter equipment is capable of cleaning the air fully in each room four times per hour. Additionally, ventilation exhaust fans are installed in all classrooms. These industrial-scale exhaust fans circulate and replace the air in the classroom with fresh air from outside in under four minutes and are run between every class period. Classes also spend time outdoors as much as possible.

  • Masks are optional indoors for all faculty, staff, volunteers and students. The School has supplies of disposable masks should an individual need one.

  • Health Requirements for school attendance: Please be vigilant of symptoms that your child may be experiencing and do not send your student to school if they are sick or exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19.

  • Isolation & Quarantine Procedures: When an individual tests positive for Covid-19, regardless of vaccination status, they must remain home from school and follow the protocol outlined below:

Positive Student Protocol: Please complete the Covid-19 Reporting Form or notify the Health Coordinator if your student tests positive. Please also complete the Absence Form

    • Day 0 is the date of positive test or symptom onset, whichever is first.

    • The positive student will stay home through Day 5.

    • The positive student may return to school on Day 6 if:

      • They have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication, and

      • Their symptoms are improving (if they were experiencing symptoms)

    • Students who return to school on Day 6, must wear a high-quality mask through Day 10.

      • Mask must be worn indoors at all times with the exception of when someone is actively eating or drinking

    • Students may return to school without a mask on Day 11.

      • Students may remove their mask before Day 11 if after Day 5 they have two sequential negative antigen tests 48 hours apart.

    Close Contacts:

    • You are considered a close contact if you were within 6 feet of a Covid-19 positive person while indoors, for a cumulative total of 15 minutes over a 24 hour period, as early as 2 days prior to symptom onset or 2 days prior to positive test of the positive person.

    • Your child may attend school as long as they remain symptom-free.

    • People who have a known or suspected exposure to Covid-19 should wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days from their last exposure.
