Summer Nursery Program at WSL

For children ages 3–4
Hours: 8:30–12:30 with an optional 8:00 a.m. early drop-off.

The Summer Nursery Program at the Waldorf School of Lexington is a nurturing, engaging program for the mind, body, and spirit of children ages 3 and 4. The program is led by Meg Lynch, a lead nursery teacher at WSL, and is open to all families, both within and beyond the WSL community.

Parents can choose three individual weeks (half-day only) with optional early drop-off. Consistent with the mission of WSL, the program aims to cultivate in each child a sense of wonder and curiosity for the natural world, creativity, collaboration with others, and confidence to engage in new experiences.

Modeled after WSL’s school-year program, our summer nursery school program features self-directed creative free play, outdoor exploration and discovery on our campus and in the nearby conservation land, and circle time with songs and stories. To this we’ve added an essential ingredient for summer fun—water play with sprinklers and a shallow pool in our nursery play yard.

Our nursery classrooms are warm and colorful, with natural playthings and room for children to move. Our program emphasizes children’s freedom to engage in self-directed, imaginative play—both indoors and out—within the structure of a comforting routine. And true to the Waldorf ethos, we'll have fun rain or shine, so keep those rain boots handy!
